The Association of British Columbia Marine Industries (ABCMI), in partnership with BC Ferries, hosted a forum on May 14, 2019, to showcase business opportunities with BC Ferries for the Province’s industry, as well as the delivery of products and services to the company. Over 110 industry partners participated at the one-day event held at the Delta Ocean Pointe Hotel in Victoria.
With over 150 member companies and rapidly growing, ABCMI was created to further develop and represent the interests of the industrial marine sector and its supply chain in British Columbia. The ABCMI works to strengthen the sector and create a positive environment in which the industry, and the over twenty thousand skilled workers it employs, can grow and prosper.
“This is the third forum we’ve held to ensure local industry knows exactly how to tap into upcoming projects at BC Ferries,” said Alex Rueben, Executive Director of ABCMI. “From vessel repair, modernization and refit to new technologies and innovation, there are many opportunities for our members to work with BC Ferries.”
Topics of discussion included updates on BC Ferries fleet renewal plans; vessel refit & upgrade projects; onboard ancillary revenue; terminal development plans; training; information technology upgrades; and the preferred vendor and procurement process.
The next ABCMI event, coming up on May 27th, will be about strengthening B.C.’s brand to promote export growth to Europe for the marine industry. For more information about the Association, visit www.abcmi.ca
